NPC and DICT leadership honored as Outstanding Public Servants

The National Privacy Commission (NPC) congratulates Privacy Commissioner Atty. John Henry D. Naga and Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John E. Uy for each being accorded the “Outstanding Public Servant of the Year” award at the 1st Data Privacy Conference held by the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa and the Organization of Data Privacy Professionals, Inc. (ODPP). The awards were presented in the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna on 09 October 2024.

The Outstanding Public Servant of the Year Award in the field of data privacy promotion is bestowed upon Privacy Commissioner Naga for his outstanding contributions in setting a benchmark for excellence in public service, raising public awareness on the importance of data privacy, and ensuring that the privacy rights and security of individuals are upheld and protected in the evolving digital landscape.

Privacy Commissioner Naga expressed his gratitude for the recognition of NPC’s leadership, stating, “This award reflects the collective dedication of the entire NPC team who works tirelessly to uphold the data subject rights of our citizens. We will continue to push forward in our mission to protect personal data and establish the Philippines as a leader in data privacy.”

During the conference, Privacy Commissioner Naga also emphasized the role of the NPC in promoting data privacy awareness and compliance. He shared insights on how non-governmental organizations can effectively balance transparency, accountability, and privacy in their operations.

The Rotary Club of Santa Rosa and the ODPP also honored other outstanding public servants, including Santa Rosa Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas and Department of the Interior and Local Government Assistant Secretary for Community Participation Elizabeth N. Lopez De Leon.
