
NPC, Straits Interactive Pte. Ltd. collaborate to enhance data privacy initiatives with generative AI
The National Privacy Commission (NPC) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Straits Interactive Pte. Ltd. in Singapore to support data privacy and protection initiatives, focusing on the integration of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The MOA signing was held in Quezon City on 17 March 2025.
This collaboration will involve various activities focused on knowledge sharing, capability-building initiatives, and research in the fields of data protection and generative AI. A cornerstone of the collaboration is the deployment of the AI DPO Assistant (Philippines), a proprietary generative AI tool developed by Straits Interactive Pte. Ltd. Initially, NPC personnel will have access to the beta version to refine and enhance its functionalities. Upon its official launch, the AI DPO Assistant (Philippines), will support the NPC in formulating policies related to AI and data privacy. The tool utilizes Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, powered by Straits Interactive Generative AI platform, Capabara, and draws upon the Philippines’ data privacy regulations and policies that are housed in a secure container.
Privacy Commissioner Atty. John Henry D. Naga stated, “This collaboration aligns with President Marcos' call to advance our digital transformation. As generative AI becomes increasingly prevalent, it is imperative that our regulatory frameworks evolve accordingly. Collaborating with Straits Interactive allows us to integrate innovation into our processes, ensuring that data privacy remains at the forefront of our digital initiatives.”
