NPC’s ‘Privacy in the Spotlight’ Webcast named finalist for Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards 2024

The National Privacy Commission’s (NPC) Privacy in the Spotlight Webcast has been shortlisted for the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards 2024, under the Education and Public Awareness Category.

Celebrating its 8th year, the GPA Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards recognizes the achievements of the GPA community and highlights exemplary practices that advance data privacy and protection.

Privacy Commissioner Atty. John Henry D. Naga expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Being shortlisted in the GPA Awards underscores our ongoing commitment to educate and protect the public in the evolving landscape of technology and data privacy. This recognition on an international level motivates us to continue our mission with even greater resolve, championing data privacy and protection.”

The Privacy in the Spotlight Webcast is an NPC initiative where data privacy experts and professionals discuss engaging and informative content covering diverse topics in data privacy and protection. It leverages social media to raise awareness and educate businesses and the public, particularly data subjects, about the importance of privacy, safety, security, and trust in the digital realm. Since the beginning of 2024, the webcast garnered more than 600,000 viewers on NPC’s Facebook page and YouTube channel - demonstrating its widespread reach.

“This achievement follows our success last year when our initiatives—Kabataang Digital and the Data Breach Notification Management System—were also shortlisted in the GPA Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards 2023 in the Education and Public Awareness and Innovation categories, respectively,” the Privacy Commissioner added.

The winning entries of the Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards 2024 will be announced during the Global Privacy Assembly 2024 (46th Annual Meeting) Closed Session.
