Philippines to Host the 2025 Global CBPR Workshop
The National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines will host the 2025 Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Workshop.
This workshop will gather government officials, regulators, and privacy experts from over 20 jurisdictions to discuss enhancing and expanding the CBPR System to facilitate interoperability between different data protection and privacy regimes.
This will be the first time that the Philippines will host the Global CBPR Forum Workshop. These workshops provide a platform for various stakeholders of the Global CBPR Forum to come together and share insights on how privacy certification frameworks, such as the CBPR certification, foster trust and enable secure data flows.
Privacy Commissioner Atty. John Henry D. Naga highlighted the importance of this endeavor, stating, “Hosting the Global CBPR Workshop marks a significant moment for the NPC and demonstrates our commitment to advancing privacy and data protection. It represents an important milestone in our international cooperation efforts.”
The Global CBPR Forum was established via the 2022 Global CBPR Declaration. The Forum seeks to support the free flow of data by providing an interoperable mechanism for effective data protection and privacy on a global scale.
At the core of the Forum’s work are the Global CBPR System and Global Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) System. These voluntary, accountability-based certifications enable organizations to demonstrate their compliance to internationally recognized data protection and privacy standards.
